Located in the heart of the Loire Valley, the AOC Chinon vineyard (2400 hectares of vines) is the most important appellation of Loire red wine. It includes 26 municipalities, including that of Cravant les Coteaux, one of the main wine villages of the Appellation, located 7 km from the historic city of Chinon. This is where the Domaine de Bel Air resides there.
Vienne has patiently dug its valley to form hillsides and valleys declining in a gentle slope towards the sun. A skillful balance between gravelly plains and clay-limestone hillsides where the remarkably exposed Cabernet Franc flourishes superbly.
Since 1997, Jean-Louis Loup has run the Domaine de Bel Air located in the commune of Cravant-les-Côteaux.
It represents the third generation of wine growers passionately in love with their land. Respect for the land, rigorous selection of old vines, maceration and traditional vinification are the basic rules.
Each plot has its typicity and its aromatic identity. A controlled production for a remarkable range of Chinon, noble and distinguished, worthy of the greatest tables.
